Name: Steve "Princess" Balk (Official title: Mr.) One of the founder members of R.A.W. Apply for details.

Born: Yes (06/01/71)

Favourite colour: Green

Favourite food / drink: Indian, fillet steak, expensive red wine.

What made you want to roadie for Euphoria?: I was drunk one night when I first saw Euphoria playing, and I had known Terry since 1987 when we were at college together, and roadieing seemed like a good break from normal nights out.

Have you roadied for any other bands?: Yes. Queen, U2, Blur, Blacklace (Agadoo).

(Assuming above answer is no) how did you know what to do?: It’s natural. Too loud - turn down. Too quiet - turn it all up to 11.

What does your job involve, and is it really that difficult?: Aside from the setting up of the equipment, we have to keep the band fed on corned beef sandwiches (white bread, no butter), and tape Jerry Springer when they are away from home. The difficult part is setting the video recorder.

What's the best thing about roadieing for Euphoria?: Leaving the missus at home and running rampant in a foreign country.

And the worst?: Getting back home and explaining that the scratches on your back and arse were from the rest of the band "having a laugh".

Describe yourself: 6 foot tall, long flowing hair, Steven Seagal / Jesus lookalike, shy, tattooed, athletic, trained in Tae Kwon-Do + beekeeping. Qualified electrical technician (no job too small).

What music do you listen to?: Rolling Stones, Queen, David Bowie, current indie / pop music. Euphoria? Of course.

Where in the world would be your favourite tour destination?: I would have to choose two. Germany is a country willing to watch an unknown band play their own music and appreciate it, gagging for more. Thank you Germany! Otherwise - California, U.S.A.

Recommend a film: Blade Runner

Recommend a book: The Second Messiah

Can you play any musical instruments?: Recorder, kazoo, wobble board, stylophone, keyboard (10 years ago).

If yes, have you ever considered being in your own band?: Always dreamed, never considered.

What do you admire most / least about Euphoria?: Most - Terry's energy in the face of a crap audience, and the band's ability to organise everything without any managers or middle men, from touring to CD production. Least - Not having a No.1.
